The goal of the cross-disciplinary conference 'Understand-ing Small Enterprises' is to be a platform for sharing scientific knowledge and experiences about small enter-prises. This is essential in order to develop policies and activities that can support owners and employees in small enterprises. USE2009 is a unique opportunity to develop networks and facilitate future research, and we therefore invite researchers and scientists from different fields interested in small enterprises - the business aspects as well as the quality of the working life and working environ-ment - to participate. Furthermore, a special conference stream is planned for practitioners and professionals.
